During the Thanksgiving break, our friends Shane and Kathleen came from the States to visit us for a week. We spent the first two days showing them around Saigon and bringing them to some of our favorite restaurants. One of the highlights was going to the Jade Emperor Pagoda, which offered some nice photographic scenes with interesting lighting and incense smoke filled rooms. Shane and Kathleen also wanted to get some clothes custom tailored so we went fabric shopping and then brought the fabric to a local tailor to get our clothes made. Before coming to Vietnam, I ordered a new camera (Olympus O-MD E-M1) on-line for Shane to bring over for me, so I had a chance to put it through its paces with some street photography before we headed south to the Mekong Delta and Phu Quoc Island for the rest of the week.
The Jade Emperor Pagoda is also known as the Tortoise Pagoda because of the pond full of turtles that sits next to it.
